How did I get interested in Computer Science?
When I initially started kindergarten, I struggled to speak English, and I never had resources to help me do well in school. As an engineer, I want to play a role in helping lessen the negative effects of language barriers on education. At my old school, these obstacles caused several students to struggle in their classes. To assist my community, I developed an interest in engineering a smart earpiece that would translate everything said into a selected language. The earpiece would then repeat the information back into your ear. This would eliminate all of the language barriers that constantly hinder someone's ability to obtain an education. I initially became passionate about computer science because I wanted to create technology that would allow every student to confidently enter a learning space.

What is my most impactful college experience?
I have only been in college for a week, so I haven't had any extremely impactful college experiences yet. Nevertheless, the main thing I have learned this past week is the importance of time management.

I love listening to music, and my favorite artist is Taylor Swift! I also enjoy drawing, singing, and sleeping.

Biography
I was born in New Jersey but moved to Pennsylvania when I was only two years old. When I turned 5, my family and I moved to Illinois. I have lived in a town called Effingham for a majority of my life. Effingham isn't a very diverse place, which is part of the reason why I chose to attend UIUC.
