CS598 Information Visualization

Information visualization helps people understand and analyze data.
In contrast with scientific visualization, information visualization
focuses on abstract data sets, such as databases, graphs or points
in a high-dimensional space. This course teaches principles as well as
existing techniques, and systems in information visualization.
It covers visualization techniques for databases, data cubes,
hierarchical structures, graphs and networks. It also covers
focus+context techniques for large datasets.
Grading is based on class participation, paper presentation and
programming projects.
The specific allocation is as follows: class participation 20%,
paper presentation 30%, class projects 50%.
