nComputer Science Faculty and Students will develop
a “pervasive” (also called “ubiquitous”) computing system and integrate
it into
–the house for a variety of tasks, including for example:

nRead weather forecasts from Internet to determine best way
to prepare for house loads

nMonitor location and number of people to control ventilation

nSystem diagnostics and troubleshooting

nDeploy variety of sensors integrated into house (Intel “floor”,
camera, infrared, RFID, acoustic, etc) to detect use of sinks,
lights, ... and application of that data to aid household and goals
of energy efficiency. (Help for handicapped occupants would be
fine too!)
