Information for Prospective Transfer Students from other institutions

Requirements for transferring into the CS major in the College of Engineering:

Admissions are handled by the university's Office of Admissions and Records and by the College of Engineering. They should be consulted for specifics, especially for the GPA requirements. However, generally speaking, students need to complete the following courses before transferring to UIUC:

  • Calculus I, II, and III (equivalent to UIUC's MATH 220 or 221, MATH 231 and MATH 241)
  • three semesters of calculus-based physics (equivalent to UIUC's PHYS 211, 212, 213 and 214)
  • one semester of chemistry w/lab (equivalent to UIUC's CHEM 102 and 103)
  • an introductory course in computer science (equivalent to UIUC's CS 125)
  • a discrete mathematics course (equivalent to UIUC's CS 173), if offered at their current college.


Requirements for transferring into Math/CS or Stats/CS majors in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS)

Admissions are handled by the Office of Admissions and Records and by the College of LAS. They should be consulted for specifics, especially for GPA requirements. However, generally speaking, students need to complete the following courses before transferring to UIUC:

  • Calculus I, II, and III (equivalent to UIUC's MATH 220 or 221, MATH 231 and MATH 241)
  • an introduction course to computer science (equivalent to UIUC's CS 125)
  • a discrete mathematics course (equivalent to UIUC's CS 173), if offered at their current college.
