The first-ever Illinois Computer Science Research Experience for Undergraduates wrapped with a Poster Symposium in early August, concluding 10 weeks in which roughly 90 undergraduates had the chance to work with Illinois faculty mentors and graduate students and dig into computer science research.

Weekly seminars covered research and presentation skills, information about graduate school, and how to apply for graduate studies. Students also had the chance to meet students from other REU programs on campus over the summer.

Award winners from the Poster Symposium were: Lucas Flygare (Best Overall Symposium Award); Abigail Ren & Regina Rex (Best Research Poster Awards), Caleb Ju & Bonnie Wang (Best Research Presentation Awards); and Emma Hammel & the team of Ariel Cordes, Elli Kaplan, & Charlotte Lambert (Best Research Project Awards).
