Alumnus Startup Optimizely Raises $57 million in Venture Capital Funding

Optimizely, a company co-founded by CS alumnus Pete Koomen recently received $57 million from venture capitalists.

Optimizely, a company founded in 2010 that helps other companies develop and test different versions of websites and emails, recently received $57 million from venture capitalists in Series B round.

According to Optimizely, more than 7,000 enterprises have used their services.

Optimizely was founded by CS @ ILLINOIS alumnus Pete Koomen (MS CS ’06) and Dan Siroker, who had met while working together at Google.

“In spite of the growth we've had at Optimizely, we're still only just getting started,” said Koomen. “We couldn't be happier to be working with Andreessen Horowitz and are excited about the expertise they bring to the table.”

Since its founding, the company has regularly been experiencing triple-digit growth. In the period of March 2012 to March 2013, the company reported a 400% increase in sales.
