Search 11611: Visiting Research Programmer
The Department of Computer Science is seeking two Visiting Research Programmers to take part in the development, testing, and maintenance of Machine Learning technologies and of Web-based Information Extraction technologies and user interfaces to Machine Learning programs. The person in each position will take responsibility for developing large scale web-based servers, interact with students and other programmers to develop components for this system, improve code quality for existing components, help users, and add new functionalities to the development and testing environments. Each position requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or a related field and experience in web programming and technical programming. Experience with one or more of the following is desirable: information retrieval, machine learning, statistics, database programming, natural language processing applications, or other comparable development experience. The successful applicant shall have strong organizational and collaborative skills in a team-oriented work environment. Outstanding attention to detail is required, along with strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies. This position will be available as soon as possible after the closing date, and is a 12-month, temporary, full-time academic professional appointment with standard University benefits with the possibility of becoming permanent at a future date.
