Workshop on Models and Analysis Methods for Automotive Systems

Marco Di Natale and Luis Almeida

to be held in conjunction with RTSS

December 5-8 2006 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

            RTSS Web site: http://www.rtss.org/

Submission Deadline: Sunday, October 15, 2006

The design and implementation of vehicle architectures with distributed and interdependent control modules imposes a variety of new challenges, including:

  • The transition from component-centric development processes to a system engineering process and a model-based development that manages the vehicle as a complete, integrated system.
  • An integrated process and possibly a unifying metamodel capable of dealing with the heterogeneous development systems and modeling languages adopted by different OEM and Tier1/2 suppliers.
  • New methodologies and tools to analyze functional and non-functional design requirements, with particular emphasis on timing and dependability.

The purpose of the workshop is to discuss new and on-going research in the development of embedded networked systems for automotive applications and gather feedback from the real-time community at large. Of particular interest are new concepts and ideas for coping with the challenges in the analysis and development of complex automotive architectures supporting time- and safety-critical applications.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Design methodologies, Modeling techniques, model-based development, optimization of distributed implementations of real-time features
  • Worst case timing analysis and simulation of complex distributed architectures, application of sensitivity analysis techniques
  • Design and evaluation of communication systems among networked ECUs in car architectures.
  • Car network systems and wireless communications systems
  • Next generation communication standards, operating system-level and middleware-level solutions.
  • Tools, Case studies and Architecture implementation solutions.

The workshop session will be held during the symposium which runs December 5-8 2006 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Accepted submissions will be included in a separate workshop Proceedings which will be distributed to all RTSS 2006 conference participants.

Important dates:

  • Deadline for submissions: Sunday, October 15 (please check the RTSS web site: http://www.rtss.org)
  • Notification of acceptance: Sunday, October 29, 2006
  • Deadline for submission of camera-ready copy: Sunday, November 5, 2006

Formatting:

  • Submissions must not exceed four pages including references and figures -- papers exceeding four pages will not be reviewed.
  • Papers should be formatted as single-space, double-column, in a 10 point font.
  • All submissions should be in PostScript (PS) or PDF. Please do not submit papers in MS Word or other formats.
  • Please try to ensure the absence of bitmapped (type 3) fonts in your submission; they make life difficult for reviewers.

Submission Info:

Please send your paper as an attachment to an e-mail message to be sent to marco@sssup.it and lda@det.ua.pt. The body of the message should contain the authors list, with affiliation and contact info for the corresponding author, the paper title, and the reference to the RTSS Workshop on Models and Analysis for Automotive Systems
