There were quite a few advertisements in each issue. I guess I should tell you what these ads were about. The later issues all had one ad for HMV and one for Hari chettan's HK (which we considered as our forerunner in many respects, and this free ad space was an acknowledgement thereof). Also we invented a tuition centre for Achan (at one time he used to teach a few kids at home), a stitching centre for Amma (she has a sewing machine with which she has stitched most of her innumerable blouses, and pyjamas for me and my brother), a tuition centre for Valiachan (he runs a rather informal one at his house), and a fictitious Mango drink to beat the summer heat, called Mingo (the credit for coining that name goes to our cousins, Sushma chechi and Suchi). Also we ran general-interest ads. (A series of ads on wildlife conservation are somehow missing from the scans).
