| News for Summer 2008 |
8/8/08 - Solutions to the final exam have been posted. Please check on the exams page. - MAH 8/6/08 - The final exam grade and final course letter grade have both been posted to Compass. Please contact me if you would like to see your exam. If you are an I2CS student that wants your exam back, please contact me this week if possible, so we can get it scanned and sent to you. A solution will be posted soon. The newsgroup has more details about the grading cutoffs. Feel free to contact me with any questions, and thanks for your hard work this summer. - MAH 7/31/08 - Solutions to the Summer 2006 final exam problems 7a and 7b have been posted on the exams page. I didn't have time to LaTeX them, so they are just hand-written and scanned. Hopefully you can read them regardless. - MAH 7/30/08 - Solutions to HW2 have now been posted; the HW1 solution was fixed. - MAH 7/29/08 - MP5 and the two extra credit problems are now due at 1:00 PM this Thursday, giving you a bit of extra time. I can't make them due any later, since we aren't supposed to make anything due once reading day starts. - MAH 7/27/08 - Please grab file lambdatest.ml for MP4EX if you are doing the extra credit. This should show you how the parser will be called. - MAH 7/27/08 - Solutions to HW1 have now been posted. - MAH 7/27/08 - Some additional tests have been posted in an extended version of haskGraderTests.ml on the MP5 page. If you have added your own tests, please back up your file before grabbing this new version, so you can easily copy them back in. Most of the added tests focus on combining lists, functions, and pairs, although some additional tests with function composition and where clauses have also been added. - MAH 7/25/08 - Information on the final exam, including a study guide with material not included on the midterm, has been published on the exams page. Note that the exam is comprehensive, so you should also look back over the material from the midterm study guide. - MAH 7/24/08 - MP5 has been updated with a grader that includes a number of examples. More details are available on the MP5 page. - MAH 7/24/08 - MP5 has been updated with the solution file; instructions for running with it, instead of with your own, are available on the MP5 page, and are also being posted to the newsgroup. Some examples will be posted soon. - MAH 7/23/08 - Two practice homeworks have been posted in the MPs section, one for transition semantics, and one for natural semantics. Solutions will be posted in a day or two. Note that these are not graded, so there is no due date, but they should help you prepare for the final exam. - MAH 7/23/08 - The solution for MP4, as well as the grading script, have been posted. Please look on the MP4 page if you want to grab them. - MAH 7/22/08 - Two extra credit MPs have been added in the MPs section. Please take a look and let me know if you have any questions. - MAH 7/21/08 - The grades for MP4 have been posted. The solution will be posted soon, and can be found now in the distribution for MP5. Please contact us with any questions. Thank you. - MAH 7/20/08 - The MP5 handout is now available, and the types.ml file has been updated with some missing type information. Please download these new files, and be careful (if you have already started modifying types.ml) to ensure you don't overwrite files you have modified. Any future changes to types.ml will be distributed under a different file name to avoid this problem. - MAH 7/18/08 - Some initial files for MP5 are out; the handout should follow tomorrow. For now, please start to familiarize yourself with the types.ml file, which contains a number of data structures and helper functions that you will need to use to do the MP. - MAH 7/15/08 - As a reminder, this Thursday's class will be prerecorded. This is the last prerecorded class this summer. I will be travelling starting today, and will not be available for office hours tomorrow, but feel free to contact me if you have any questions about anything, including the next MP, which should be out soon. - MAH 7/15/08 - Solutions to the midterm have been posted on the exams page, and grades have been posted in Compass. Exams will be handed back today in class. If you believe there is an error in the way we graded your exam, please let us know as soon as possible. - MAH 7/12/08 - I'm extending the deadline on MP4 by one day, so it will now be due end of day Monday. Since I'm not available this Wednesday, I'm going to have special office hours tomorrow from 2:00 - 3:00 in the afternoon, so if you have problems with your solution please come by then or grab me after lecture tomorrow. - MAH 7/12/08 - The hasklex.mll file, and a new Makefile, have been posted for MP4. Please download these and use them in your testing, especially if you are getting an inconsistent interface error when you make your solution. - MAH 7/11/08 - The solution for MP3, hasklex.mll, has been posted on the MP3 page. Sorry for forgetting to post this earlier. - MAH 7/10/08 - New solution files have been posted for MP4. These will overwrite the solution* files in your grader. You can unzip these directly into your work directory without risk of data loss, although you should maintain a backup of your work anyway, just in case! - MAH 7/9/08 - MP3 grades are now available in compass. There were a total of 106 available points. - MAH 7/1/08 - Information on the exam has been posted to the website; please follow the exams link at the top of the page to get there. I would recommend that you review this material and contact me if you have any questions. In addition, there will be a review session today in class. I2CS students should watch this video before the exam, since it should help them to prepare properly. - MAH 6/29/08 - MP2 grades have been posted to Compass. There were 88 normal points and 9 extra credit points, so if you got higher than an 88 you technically got higher than 100%. You can download the solutions to this MP and the full rubric from the MP2 page. - MAH 6/28/08 - MP4 has been released. Please take a look at the MPs page for more details. Note that the deadline for handing in MP4 will be July 13th, with no extension this time to ensure there is time for the remaining MPs. Please let us know if you have any questions. - MAH 6/22/08 - MP1 grades have been posted to Compass. There were 84 normal points and 16 extra credit points, so if you got higher than an 84 you technically got higher than 100%. All MPs will be worth the same portion of the final MP grade, so factor this in accordingly (i.e., if the next MP has fewer than 100 points, it isn't worth less). You can also download the solutions to this MP and the full rubric, both of which have been posted to the MP1 page. I'm looking at a method to allow you to pull back the log of your grading run, which includes some comments; hopefully this will be working later this week. If, after running your solution against the full rubric, you have any questions about your grade, don't hesitate to contact us. - MAH 6/20/08 - MP3 has been posted. It will be due by 11:59 PM on the 29th, with an automatic 2-day extension at the cost of 20% of your grade on the MP. - MAH 6/19/08 - MP2 will now be due by the end of the original extension deadline, 11:59 PM on 6/22/08, with no penalty. Note that there is no extension after this, so the MP must be submitted by that time. - MAH 6/16/08 - MP2 has been updated to provide a complete rubric and to update the information on the multifold function. The file with the function stubs is now named mp2skel.ml, so you should be able to download and un-tgz it without overwriting your own solution (although please make backups anyway!). Please look at the MP2 page for more details - MAH 6/16/08 - UNIT PROJECTS: If you are doing a project, you should submit the proposal by emailing it to Mark Hills. - MAH 6/12/08 - MP2 is now posted. It will be due on 6/20/08 with an automatic extention through 6-22-08. Note that the solution which is provided will be updated. - BM 6/10/08 - An updated version of the MP1 grader which fixes a problem in one of the solution functions has been posted. Please download the new version from the mps page. - MAH 6/9/08 - We will not have class on 7/3, since the following day is a holiday. Note that, since we have the midterm the following Monday, 7/7, you should make your travel plans accordingly. - MAH 6/9/08 - Mark will be away on the following days: 6/12, 6/16, 6/17, 7/8, 7/10, 7/17. On each of these days a prerecorded lecture covering the material that would be covered in class that day will be provided. He should have access to email while traveling, so don't hesitate to contact him. - MAH 6/9/08 - Mark will not have office hours this week. Please send him email if you need to contact him while he is away. - MAH 6/9/08 - Information about the unit project can now be found on the course website, please click the unit project link at the top of the page. - MAH 6/2/08 - MP1 will now be due 6/10/08, with an extension to 6/12/08, since we still need to cover the material in lecture 3 before you can really get started on the MP. - MAH 6/2/08 - There will be no in-class lecture on 6/12/08, 6/16/08, or 6/17/08, since Mark will be away at a workshop. Pre-recorded lecture videos for those days will be posted. - MAH 6/2/08 - MP1 has been posted. It will be due on 6/9/08, with an automatic extension, at a loss of 20% credit, through 6/11/08 (11:59 PM in both cases). - MAH
