News for Summer 2006
  • 8/5/06 - The solution to MP5 has been posted as solution.mly (see the MP page). Also, scores for MP5 (with extra credit factored in) are in Compass, and the logs from grading runs are in your Compass email. - MH
  • 8/3/06 - For anyone interested, MP3 has been posted. It isn't due, so there is no handin. Feel free to take a look at it and ask me questions about it, even after the semester ends. The material in the MP won't be on the final, so I wouldn't bother with it until after the exam. - MH
  • 8/3/06 - Just as another reminder, the final exam is this Saturday, at 1:00 PM, in 1304 Siebel (our regular class location). It will be two hours. Please bring ID, and see the exams page for more details. - MH
  • 8/3/06 - Solutions to all the study problems were posted yesterday (posting was announced in the newsgroup) - MH
  • 7/30/06 - A set of study problems for the final has been posted under exams. Solutions to these problems will be posted over the next day or two. - MH
  • 7/29/06 - A sample grader for MP5 is now out. This grader is similar to those for MP1 and MP2. Unzip the files with 'tar -xvzf student_grader.tgz', copy your haskparse.mly file into the created directory, and then in that directory first run 'make grader' and then run 'grader' to get the results - MH
  • 7/27/06 - A syllabus for the final exam has been posted. See the exams page for further details. - MH
  • 7/23/06 - A reference parser for MP5 has been posted. See the newsgroup for further details. - MH
  • 7/20/06 - MP4 solutions have been posted, and grades have been posted into Compass. MP4 extra credit should be factored in soon. - MH
  • 7/17/06 - MP5 extra credit has now been posted. Please look under the MP5 section on the MP page. - MH

  • 6/26/06 - Solutions are posted now as well, but please try to work the problems first. - MH
  • 6/26/06 - Please check the exams page for a set of sample problems. I'll post solutions to these later, but this should give you a good idea of what types of things you should know to do well on the exam. - MH
  • 6/22/06 - Please look at the exams page. Sample exams from past semesters and a preliminary list of topics have been posted. - MH
  • 6/22/06 - The MP2 handout has been updated to fix the function signatures on problem 20. Please see the newsgroup for more details. - MH
  • 6/20/06 - The grader for MP2 has been posted. You can use this in the same way as the grader for MP1, and should use it to verify that your solution compiles against our tests. - MH
  • 6/15/06 - The solution to MP1 has now been posted. Please let us know if you have any questions about it. - MH
  • 6/15/06 - My office hours location has changed to 2407 Siebel Center, starting today. Sorry for the late notice - MH
  • 6/14/06 - MP2 was posted late last night, and is due on Tuesday, June 27th. We may have another MP come out that overlaps slightly, although we will make sure there is sufficient time to do both. - MH
  • 6/10/06 - Please handin from the eelnx machines (the FAQ now states you should use eelnx1, although any eelnx machine should work). The ehlnx machines unexpectedly disappeared over the last week. - MH
  • 6/09/06 - The handin program is ready, and actually has been working for some time (for those of you who have already submitted). Please follow the directions on how to submit under the FAQ. For MP1 your solutions should all be in file mp1.ml. Handin must be run from one of the EWS Linux machines. Please contact us if you have any problems handing in. - MH
  • 6/04/06 - A grading script for MP1 has been posted. It contains a partial set of tests for MP1 (you should do your own, more extensive testing). It's primary purpose is to ensure that your code will be able to compile with the grading script (which is absolutely required). Instructions are in the included README file. - MH
  • 6/02/06 - The lecture videos are now linked from the lectures page of the course website. - BH
  • 5/31/06 - MP1 has been posted. Please check under mps for more details. - MH
  • 5/24/06 - Because 5/29 (Monday) is a holiday we will start class on 5/30 (Tuesday) and have a makeup class on 6/1 (Wednesday). We will then be on our regular schedule. - MH
  • 5/23/06 - Welcome to the summer 2006 section of CS421. This page is under construction. - MH
