| News for Fall 2005 |
5/14/06 - Grades for the final should be up (out of 160), class grades should also be up, and class grades should be entered. - PY 5/8/06 - MP6 solution & grading script reposted. I'll be holding office hours at my regular time today. - PY 5/4/06 - Apparently there's an MP6 still outstanding, so ... pretend the uh, solution and grading script weren't really posted. - PY 5/4/06 - There's a topics list and sample final in the exams section. - PY 4/28/06 - MP6 has no late penalty. I'll also be holding office hours on Sunday around 3pm or so. Furthermore, it's unlikely that I'll be holding office hours after 5pm on Monday. - PY 4/24/06 - Just a note, for MP6, problem 1, I'd suggest visiting the Essentials of Programming Languages code repository and checking out 8-4.scm. It covers CPS transforms in the language that we've been writing interpreters for. You should probably start with the cps-of-simple-exp function. - PY 4/23/06 - MP6 posted. - PY 4/12/06 - Just realized we haven't posted the solutions for Midterm II. So I've posted what I have so far - they haven't been checked over yet, so it's possible I've made some mistakes. That, and I haven't gotten around to diagraming problem 3. - PY 4/11/06 - I've remembered that we never did give you that undergrad/grad break down. So here's the stats - Undergrads, Midterm I: Average: 56.5, SD: 18.0, Midterm II: Average: 57.3, SD: 16.6, Graduates, Midterm I: Average: 72.5, SD: 7.6, Midterm II: Average: 70.3, SD: 12.1. Note: Midterm I scores only include people who took Midterm II. - PY 4/11/06 - Midterm II grades available via Compass. Average: 58.3, SD: 16.58. Should be handed back in class tomorrow. - PY 4/03/06 - MP5 posted. - Arthur 4/03/06 - So we've decided to use environment diagrams in order to test your knowledge of what exactly the interpreter is doing. We haven't really stressed this before, so I suggest you look at figure 3.11, which appears to be the only environment diagram in chapter 3. Also, you may wish to look at exercises 4.15 and 4.16 in order to practice type inferencing. - PY 4/01/06 - MP4 graded. Mean of 38.8, SD of 16.4 - PY 3/29/06 - I've started sticking stuff that will hopefully be useful for Midterm II up on the exams page. Note: I don't have an official list of topics, so the topics I've posted are guesses. - PY 3/20/06 - Made a modification to how you're allowed to handle get-store in problem 5. Although technically what's been added wasn't explicitly disallowed, so this is more of a hint. - PY 3/12/06 - I've added an examples file to MP4, consisting of all the examples in the PDF. - PY 3/6/06 - Minor changes to mp4.scm - mostly some syntax fixups with store (which you'll probably end up overwriting anyways), and a slight change in the ordering of the scanner. And apparently need is reserved. Or something. - PY 3/6/06 - Bug in the MP2 test script more or less giving everyone an extra 5 points. Average: 33.3, SD: 17.3 - PY 3/6/06 - Alright. Fixed that. MP2 grades available again. Average: 38.1, SD: 17.1 - PY 3/6/06 - MP2 grades are possibly screwy. Reworking the grading script. - PY 3/6/06 - Two regrades that have come up on the exam: Problem 3d - due to mis-writing the parenthesis in the correction, 5556 is correct. Problem 4a - on further reflection, the term is ambiguous, so it is no longer in correct to have changed the last z into an x. - PY 3/6/06 - MP2 graded. I've no idea what the mean and SD are atm. Each problem was worth 10 points. - PY 3/3/06 - MP4 posted. - PY 2/27/06 - For those who haven't seen the posting on the newsgroup, there will be no late penalty for MP3. - PY 2/26/06 - Solutions to mid-term 1 are posted on the exams page - Arthur 2/24/06 - I've posted a couple notes about parsers for MP3. (updated on 2/26) - PY 2/21/06 - Solutions to the selected problems in the '96 final posted on the exams page. - PY 2/20/06 - Topics and a few sample problems added to the exams page. - PY 2/17/06 - MP3's due date is being moved to 2/28/06, 9pm - PY 2/15/06 - MP3 is available. It's due on 2/24/06 9pm - Arthur 2/13/06 - The due date for MP2 has been pushed back to 2/17/06. No late submissions. Also, a couple points have been clarified in the MP. - PY 2/10/06 - The lateness penalty for MP2 is being waived. This is done so that more people can come to office hours on Monday and Tuesday. The final deadline is still 2/14, 9pm. - Arthur 2/1/06 - MP2 out. It's due on 2/12, 9pm. - PY 1/31/06 - MP1 deadline moved to 11:59pm. - PY 1/29/06 - I recommend that everybody read the newsgroup set up for this class. We the TAs post clarifications and hints about the MPs, which may improve your scores. - Arthur 1/28/06 - handin now works. Run by typing ~cs421/bin/handin. - Arthur 1/25/06 - Dr. Scheme is now installed on EWS Linux machines. Launch it with ~cs421/bin/drscheme. - Arthur 1/23/06 - I've moved my monday office hours down an hour, due to a conflict - that'll kick in next week. - PY 1/23/06 - MP1 is available. - Arthur 1/23/06 - Lecture schedule updated. - Arthur 1/18/06 - Lecture schedule updated. - PY 1/17/06 - There's a copy of Dr. Scheme that should be useable on the CSIL linux machines. The path is "/home/class/sp06/cs421/plt/bin/drscheme" - there's also a link to the Dr. Scheme download page. So far, I haven't had any problems with the Windows version running on XP. - PY 1/13/06 - Welcome to the spring 2006 semester of CS421. This page is under construction. - PY
