• 3/1 Old Midterm Exams from cs423 Midterm Fall 2002 and Midterm Fall 2005 (Note: Keep in mind that the 423 level class moved much faster, covered much more material, and included seniors and/or first year graduate students only). I will post the solutions on Tuesday since some problem(s) are on the current Homework 1.
• 2/27 Homework 1 has been posted and is due Monday, Mar 6, at 4pm. No extensions will be available for this assignment.
• 2/27 Midterm will be on March 9, 2006 in two different rooms,1404 SC and 1302 DCL at 7pm in the evening. The reason is that according to the Computer Science/University regulations only 100 students can take midterm exam in 1404 SC. We will advertise the class partitioning (who goes to 1404 SC and 1320 DCL) very shortly.
• 2/26 Midterm will cover topics on processs and threads management, synchronization, scheduling,signals, timers, and deadlocks. See Tanenbaum Chapters 2 (2.1- 2.4), 3 (3.3.1 - 3.3.5), R&R Chapters 2 (2.1-2.11),3 (3.1 - 3.7),8 (8.1-8.5),9 (9.1-9.5), 12 (12.1-12.6), 13 (13.1-13.6), 14 (14.1-14.5).

• 1/25 MP0 has been posted and is due Monday, Jan 30, at 4pm. You can access it via the Homework and Machine Problems link above.
• 1/20 Discussion Section assignments have gone out. If you filled out a quiz on Wednesday and did not receive an email yet, you have been assigned to section on Wednesdays 7-8pm. If you were not in class or did not fill out a quiz, please try to attend one of the evening sections next week. Students will be able to switch their section once the semester gets going, but please attend the one assigned to you for the first 2 weeks.
• 1/18 We have received confirmation from Professor Kamin that this class is required for all students in CS who have not yet graduated or taken CS 423. You will not be able to take CS 423 without first passing CS 241.
• 1/18 Class will have optional discussion sections, Monday 4-5pm, Tuesday 7-8pm, Wednesday 7-8pm and Thursday 4-5pm in 1214 Siebel Center. It is strongly recommended that you attend one discussion section each week.
