CS411 Newsgroup

The newsgroup will be used to post questions about the discussions in class, assignment questions, and general questions as well. The news server is standalone and seperate from the general USENET one, you will need to specify the news.cs.uiuc.edu as your news server. And the newsgroup name is class.cs411. Please follow the following steps to get setup

First create an account through this web page https://webapps.cs.uiuc.edu/services/newsgroups/ You will need to login by using your NetID. Changing this password will only affect your news group account.
Now we can configuring the newsgroup client. This varies depending on what software you are using. Goto https://agora.cs.uiuc.edu/display/tsg/News+Reader+Documentation and scroll down to specific client instructions and select your newsgroup client.
