CS 273: Intro to Theory of Computation
Fall 2006
Professors Margaret Fleck and Madhusudan Parthasarathy

Welcome to CS 273, Fall 2006.
Watch here for important course information and announcements.
- The final exam will be held 7-10pm, Thursday December 14th in 1320 DCL.
- The location for Midterm 1 is 1404 Siebel.
- If you have a conflict with midterm 1, send email ASAP to
Margaret, with a brief description of your conflict and (very important)
your schedule of good/bad times that week, so we can schedule the
make-up exam.
- Midterm 1 is scheduled for Tuesday, 3 October, 7-9pm. We're
still working on getting a room for it, so watch for announcements.
- If you aren't subscribed to the course newsgroup, please do so.
It's a valuable source of announcements, hints, etc.
- The lecture schedule has been updated, to make it
a reasonably accurate projection of what we intend to do this term.
In particular, note two things:
- projected dates for the two midterm exams. Please look at them
NOW and tell Margaret if you see any problems, especially conflicts with
exams for courses like CS 225.
- reading assignments. We're going to stop announcing them in class
but you should still keep doing them.
- The headbanging sessions have been scheduled for the following times
(starting 5 September):
- Tuesday 2-3pm
- Wednesday 9-10am
- Thursday 10-11am
in 0224 Siebel (in the basement).
- Please take the
survey of possible times for head-banging sessions
- A sample proof (extracted from last term's solution sheets) has
posted along with the lecture notes from today (29 August). It illustrates
in more detail the last type of proof we saw in lecture.
- Homework 0 has been posted on the homework page, due Monday 4 Sept.
.... correction! Monday is a holiday!. So it's due Tuesday 5 Sept.
