Fall 2006

Most classes teach computer science theory. In this class we teach practical programming. In most classes you learn to write correct programs. In this class you'll learn to be a better programmer. We focus on writing simple, readable, maintainable code and on presenting your work to other programmers.

Class meets from 4:00–4:50 every Wednesday in 1404 Siebel Center throughout the semester.

There is a class newsgroup at class.cs242. To access the class newsgroup, you must use the new CS server. Go to http://news.cs.uiuc.edu to create your password for access.

We are using the book Code Complete 2 for this class. Here is a link to its entry at Amazon.

If you are in the class, you should also sign up for an account on our beta grading application at cs242.vazexqi.com. Click on add student to add yourself to the class.
