Problem Set Guidelines

General Information
Problem sets will be assigned weekly on Monday evenings, due the following Sunday at 8am. Each homework is worth 3 points toward your final grade in the class.

Handing in Problem Sets
There are 2 options for submitting homework. They are listed here in decreasing order of preference:

No late homework will be accepted. You are encouraged to hand in partially completed homework for partial credit.

Grading
Each homework is worth 3 points toward your final grade in the course. Each homework will be scored as a percentage, and the total points you receive will be that % times 3. Solutions to the homeworks will be available electronically shortly after the due date. Homework return procedures are at the discretion of the section leader, but will occur within a week.

Presentation
These guidelines apply most specifically to hand written submissions, but in many cases there are analogous instructions for electronic documents, and these should be followed.

Regrades
There are many students in this class, and there will be chaos if any significant fraction accost the TAs and instructor before or after class with questions or complaints about grading. If you think your homework has been misgraded, then either go to the appropriate section leader's office hours, or better, describe in writing the problem, attach it to your graded homework, and give it to your section leader.

Academic Integrity
Problem sets are meant to be written individually. Do not copy them from others, nor should you allow your solutions to be copied. You are welcome to discuss homework problems with a study group, but as a rule of thumb, you should not write up solutions in a collaborative environment.
